Janelle Aslam

President & Chief Consultant for MKT ABC

I grew up in a small town in Ohio, with parents who taught me at a young age the importance of helping our local community. I earned my Bachelor in Marketing from Miami University (the one in Ohio). While there, I led Miami Marketing Enterprises, a group of marketing majors who wanted to improve our collective knowledge in the field and our service to local businesses.

I joined Nestle Purina after graduation and served in sales, analyst and shopper marketing roles. I also co-created Nestle’s best in class internship program. SC Johnson wanted to create a similar shopper marketing role within their sales division and I helped them not only launch the role, but also work with ethnic marketing agencies.

I earned my MBA from Cornell University and was elected a class rep and met my husband in the program. While I loved working for SC Johnson, I chose love over the job and accepted a role with the Claritin brand team. I was asked to help our director launch a completely different innovation for the company and after a few years, Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit Orthotics was launched nationally. Merck bought out Schering Plough and then I joined Hisamitsu Pharmaceuticals to help them bring the Salonpas brand to the United States. I then joined Freshpet as their Director of Marketing to assist their overall innovation and marketing approach pre IPO.

After 20 years building and managing both sales and marketing for well known brands, I launched my consulting business to bring the same rigor and centric consumer approach to my clients. I also teach entrepreneurs and business students advertising, branding, innovation and marketing. I love teaching my clients the same strategy and best practices from my past.
